NEW DELHI: Buying Motorola's popular budget smartphone Moto G just turned more attractive, with online retailer Flipkart having started an exchange offer on a number of phones.
As part of the offer, the retailer is offering a 'minimum' discount of Rs 2,000. The buyback offer is applicable on smartphones by Nokia, Samsung, Sony, BlackBerry, Apple, Micromax, Karbonn, Xolo, Motorola, HTC, Lava and Lenovo. It is valid on purchase of both 8GB and 16GB variants of Moto G.
Since Flipkart has stated it is offering a minimum of Rs 2,000 as part of the offer, some models would understandably fetch a higher price. However, the firm has not stated any price ceiling on the exchange of handsets that may be priced higher.
Funnily though, while Nokia C7, a four-year-old smartphone, is exchanged for Rs 2,000, Apple's previous flagship, iPhone 5, also fetches Rs 2,000 as part of this deal. Newer smartphones like iPhone 5S and Samsung Galaxy S4 are not included in the offer.
After the discount, Moto G's 8GB and 16GB variants will cost Rs 10,499 and Rs 11,999 respectively. Flipkart charges Rs 50 to pick up the smartphone being exchanged.
Flipkart is the only website that sells Motorola's two new smartphones - Moto G and Moto X - in India. This offer is not applicable on Motorola's Moto X smartphone.
